WABASH — A juvenile died in a one-car accident Wednesday night in Wabash County.
The accident happened around 6 p.m. on CR 700W south of CR 850N near Roan in Wabash County.
The preliminary crash investigation revealed that Jonathan T. Patton, 19, of Laketon, was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Caprice south on CR 700 West, south of 850N when the vehicle left the roadway and collided with a tree.
A juvenile passenger, also a resident of Laketon, was pronounced deceased at the crash scene by the Wabash County Coroner’s Office.
That person’s age and name were not immediately released.
Patton was flown to an area hospital for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Laketon is southwest of North Manchester.
The consumption of intoxicants and excessive speed are suspected of contributing to this crash. The family of the deceased has been notified.
The investigation remains ongoing.
ISP Master Trooper Perez was assisted at the scene by members of the Indiana State Police Peru District, Wabash County Sheriff’s Office, Roann Volunteer Fire Department, Wabash County EMA, and the Wabash County Coroner’s Office.
