Despite continued storms to the south, sunshine and warm conditions took hold Saturday afternoon locally and continued through Sunday. 

The highlights included a Veterans Memorial Service, a U.S. Air Force flyover, a multifaceted historical village, as well as a Saturday night concert and two nights of fireworks — all at the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds.

Ken Locke, who participated in the Veterans Service, tipped his hat to Mike Lauer, who oversaw much of the planning.

“Mike, I want you to know from all of us, we owe you a great debt of gratitude,” Locke said.

“You have been through the war on this, so thank you very much for all your work on this. You deserve a lot of credit. Thank you very much,” Locke said.

Downpours led to the postponement of a performance by the American Legion Band of Fort Wayne (overseen by the Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department) on Friday at Central Park and Saturday morning’s parade.

A new date for the concert has not yet been announced.
