The Tippecanoe Valley boys soccer team got back on track over the last week of action picking wins against John Glenn and North Miami.
On Saturday the Vikings powered through John Glenn winning the match 3-1. Gio Arriaga opened the scoring for Valley off an assist from Carson Craft. The second goal was a penalty kick by Kevin Mar and then Craft found Arriaga again late in the first half and Gio calmly tucked the ball into the back of the net to see Valley take a 3-0 halftime lead. The second half saw John Glenn create more chances, but the Viking defense was up to the task. Goal Keeper Julian Rosas made 6 saves.
Valley would then match up with North Miami last night and double up their opponent 4-2. Gio Arriaga scored twice on break-aways and Kevin Mar added a penalty kick and a beautiful curling ball from the top of the box to the back post assisted by Justin Menchaca Garcia. Eric Eikenberry and Carson Craft also recorded assists. With Starting keeper Julian Rosas unavailable for the match Keith Haney stepped in to make a dozen saves and thwart several clear-cut chances by the Warriors attack.
Some notes from the last two games. Gio Arriaga has now scored a team lead 11 goals after picking up 4 through the last 2 games. He is tied for 20th in the state of Indiana for goals scored.
The Vikings face the Marion Giants on Thursday night at Tippecanoe Valley. The Vikings are currently (4-1-1).
