Personal Best’s and School Records Fall at Manchester
While the team results weren’t indicative of the day that both the Vikings Boys and Girls Cross Country teams had on Saturday, both teams took a step forward.
The boys finished 19th out of 22 schools but the finish doesn’t show the whole picture. Isaac Whetstone led the way for the Vikings with a time of 19:34 setting a new personal best time. Christopher Marquez also achieved a personal best with a time of 19:57. Eli Sterk 20:06, Luis Nunez 21:14, Joseph Lybarger 23:09, and Keagan Tignor 24:44 all finished with personal best times. Michael Leininger 25:16, Gavin Leininger 25:34, and Christian Guzman 28:02 rounded out the group of 9 runners on Saturday for the boys.
Overall Penn High School won the invite as a team scoring 54 points.
The girls completed their day finishing 14th out of 18 schools. The highlight of the morning was the school record time of 19:25 set by Chesnee Miller. Miller finished the highest of any Viking on Saturday with a 5th place finish individually. Behind Miller the times went as followed for the Lady Vikes Bailey Bussard 23:35, McKenna Lowe 23:38, Ava Minix 25:59 and Sienna Holder 38:21 to round out the group of 5 runners.
East Noble won the meet for the girls with a team score of 62 points.
