SILVER LAKE — A Silver Lake man was shot and killed by police in Wabash County Thursday morning.
A preliminary investigation by ISP detectives revealed that just before 9 a.m., members of the Wabash County Sheriff’s Office, Wabash City Police and other authorities went to a residence in the 200 block of Crappie Road to serve a search warrant and felony charges from two counties.
The residence is just north of SR 114 and east of Disko.
Upon arrival, a man identified as 65-year-old Dale White was found inside the residence.
White was then seen pointing a firearm in the direction of police.
In response, one officer discharged their weapon at least once, striking White, police said in a news release.
White died at the scene.
No officers were injured in the incident.
A Wabash City Police Department officer involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.
ISP has been asked to investigate.
Upon completion of the investigation, the findings will be provided to the Wabash County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
