WARSAW — While there have been numerous closings and lane restrictions along Anchorage Road in recent months, the full-blown construction project still looms.
The Warsaw Redevelopment Commission learned on Monday that bids for the full reconstruction of the road will happen in October and and it could begin in early 2026.
The reconstruction will stretch from Biomet Drive just north of US 30 all the way west to SR 15.
It appears to be one of the city’s biggest infrastructure undertakings in years and has been in the planning stages for years.
The most recent engineering cost estimate suggests it could be around $5 million, according to Jeremy Skinner, director of community & economic development for the city.
Utility crews have spent months moving assorted underground utilities as well as utility poles to make way for room to construct three lanes of traffic and sidewalks.
The project is expected to continue for months and will be done in segments, Skinner said. That will allow for motorists to access several big retail areas and neighborhoods.
Skinner said those areas will be available either from SR 15 or US 30.
Skinner said he expects construction will continue well into 2026.
“In the end, the product will be worth it, but it will take some patience to get there,” Skinner said.
