PLYMOUTH — An allegedly highly intoxicated man fled police repeatedly in Marshall County before a canine unit helped apprehend him.
Marshall County Sheriff’s Department Deputies were requested to respond to a residence in the 5000 block of Michigan Road for an unwanted guest.
The caller said the man, later identified as 38-year-old Joshua Carroll, was intoxicated, being aggressive while at the residence, and then began driving up and down the road, revving his vehicle’s engine, according to a news release from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department.
Marshall County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived, but Carroll fled from the vehicle on foot.
Deputies found him behind a residence, but Joshua fled from law enforcement again.
While still searching, Marshall County Central Dispatch received a call at 1 a.m. from a resident on Lilac Road saying an unknown man was pounding on their door.
While law enforcement was responding, the caller stated the male, believed to be Carroll, became aggressive and was now being pinned down and held at gunpoint.
Somehow, Carroll fled the scene before police arrived.
Marshall County Sheriff’s Department’s Drone and a canine unit were used in the search.
A short time later, a police canine, Diesel, found Carroll hiding underneath heavy machinery equipment in a construction yard nearby.
Diesel was able to apprehend Carroll after he refused to comply with law enforcement’s commands.
Carroll was taken into custody without further incident.
He was taken to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth to be treated for his injuries and a chemical test.
Carroll was found to be over twice the legal limit of alcoho and taken to the Marshall County Jail where he was preliminarily booked for Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated with a Prior Conviction – Level 6 Felony, Resisting Law Enforcement – Class A Misdemeanor, and Public Intoxication – Class B Misdemeanor.
Bond was set at $1,505 bond.
